According to the Swiss research company CIES Football Observatory, Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe is the most valued soccer player in the world, followed by Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr and new Manchester City signing Erling Haaland.
Mbappe, who rejected Real Madrid and signed a new three-year contract with PSG last month, topped the list with an estimated transfer value of 205.6 million euros (Rs 1,705 crore), topping Vinicius (Rs 1,538 crore) and Haaland (Rs 1,538 crore) (Rs 1,266 crore).
Mbappe’s PSG colleague Neymar now owns the transfer record. In 2017, the French champions paid Barcelona 222 million euros (Rs 1842 crore) to sign him.
Barca’s Pedri (Rs 1,121 crore) and Borussia Dortmund’s English midfielder Jude Bellingham completed the top five (Rs 1,109 crore).
The CIES Football Observatory calculates transfer value based on factors such as player age, performance, career advancement, and contract length. Premier League players topped the current ranking, accounting for 41 of the top 100.
City’s Ruben Dias had the highest transfer value for a defender (109.6 million euros), while PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma had the highest transfer value for a goalkeeper (73.7 million euros).
Kevin De Bruyne, 30, of Manchester City, was the oldest player on the list, valued at 57.3 million euros!
Returning to Kylian Mbappe, his biography claims that as a boy, he wished to play for Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
This summer, he had that option at his disposal. He even requested it last summer, but he has since abandoned it in favour of a lucrative contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe agreed to join PSG and become the world’s highest-paid athlete.
The signed pledge is valid until 2025, in another planned step toward perfection.
He now has three years to become more than simply the finest footballer on the globe, but also a guy capable of lavishing himself with the type of money that PSG and Qatar have put in place for him to sign the most important contract in the history of football.
He kept his pledge to play for Real Madrid for almost a year. The repeated refusals to accept Qatar’s offers led them to believe it was confirmed.
Mbappe was in charge of comforting Los Blancos’ directors, dismissing any suggestion of uncertainty.
Three days later, he emphasised that he had said yes and that everything was still on the table. Real Madrid began to have doubts when Mbappe travelled to Qatar in the week that became decisive.
