Real recall Bale

Real Madrid have recalled Gareth Bale into their squad ahead of their final pre-season friendly when they face AS Roma on Sunday night.

The Welsh forward has been in the news this summer having been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

At one point, the 30-year-old appears set to join Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Sunning before Real Madrid blocked the deal at the end of July.

Bale had been left out of Zinedine Zidane’s squads for last week’s friendly against RB Salzburg, as well as the Spanish giant’s trip to Munich for the Audi Cup.

The club’s former record signing has seen his future in Madrid thrown into doubt following the return of Zidane in March.

Gareth Bale still has three years left on his Real Madrid contract but has only appeared in two pre-season friendlies so far. He is part of the 20-man squad that are in the Italian capital this evening.

Manchester United had been linked to Bale earlier in the summer but nothing happened as the English Premier League transfer window closed on Thursday.

Clubs around the rest of Europe and the world can still agree a deal with Real Madrid between now and 31 August.

Real Madrid start their 2019-20 La Liga season away to Celta Vigo on Saturday 17 August.
