John O’Shea’s career reached an all-time high today with the news that Spanish giants Barcelona are planning to buy the slimline Peter Kay in the summer.
The Manchester United defender, who still doesn’t fully understand how to celebrate scoring a goal in front of his own fans (as pictured) , has been out of action since limping out of Ireland’s now in-famous World Cup play-off tie with France back in November.
The 28-year old is understood to be one of Pep Guardiola’s number one targets for this summer’s transfer window. The Barca boss is also looking to add some quality to his squad this summer, with Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas also being linked with a move to the Camp Nou in recent days.
The most versatile player in the history of the Premier League, John O’ Shea has spent nine years at Old Trafford, making over 350 appearances in the process. O’Shea has played left-back, centre-back, right-back, centre-mid, right-wing, left-wing and even played as a goalkeeper for United during his time at the club, and there are unconfirmed reports that Barca want him to be their new No. 1.
When asked about the possibilty of O’Shea arriving at the Catalan club this summer, a Barca representitive was quoted as saying : “It is no secret we are looking for a new keeper. We need a keeper with experience, with a determination to win everything and most important of all, someone with skill. O’Shea ticks all the boxes.”
