Yes George, that way to the job centre.
.
It was always going to end in failure.
Another qualifying campaign has tonight come to absolutely nothing for Scotland. A 1-0 defeat at home to Holland has brought to an end Scotland’s dreams of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Going into the game, George Burley’s men knew they needed to win to have any chance of making it into the play-off’s for a place in next year’s World Cup, however apart from one or two moments in the match, that never looked like happening. The Dutch controlled the game for a large chunk of proceedings but to be fair, the Scots hit the wood work on two occasions.
Scotland have now failed to qualify for any major tournament in over ten years, which bodes the question, when will they qualify for a major tournament again?
There is no doubt that they have some magnificent players in their ranks at the present moment. Players like Darren Fletcher, James McFadden, Scott Brown and Kenny Miller are all top quality footballers, however it’s fair to say, you need more than just four quality players.
Although I’m not Scottish, I would love to see them qualify for a major tournament, but for me, I can’t see that happening any time soon.
