Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp had today claimed that Portsmouth are asking for too much for Peter Crouch. The England international looks set to leave Fratton Park in the coming weeks after he recently critisced the club.
Redknapp has been strongly linked with a move for the 28-year old striker, however he know believes that the £12 million Portsmouth are asking for is too much.
When asked about the possibility of Crouch arriving at White Hart Lane this summer, Redknapp had this to say : “I like Crouchy but at the moment I have got four strikers here. Four good strikers. So it is not a priority.
“I haven’t got to get rid of anyone. We are not desperate at the moment for strikers. I just feel that for that type of money it is an awful lot of money, no disrespect, but Peter is 28-years-old.”
I would tend to agree with Redknapp that Crouch doesn’t represent value for money at the rumoured £12 million. There is no doubt that, on his day, he is one of the best strikers in the league, however I personally think he is only worth £10 million max. I’m curious to see who Crouch does eventually end up signing for, but one things for certain, I won’t be having any money on the quoted 1/3 that he is a Spurs player by the end of the summer.
