Chelsea are interested in signing England international Ben Chilwell, according to reports.
The 22-year-old was one of the best left-backs in the Premier League last season and has made that positions his own for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions over the past 12 months.
However, the Blues will still be under a transfer ban during the next window in January, so they would not be able to complete the move until next summer. Unless they are successful in an appeal of course.
The Sun are the latest outlet to link Chilwell with a move to Stamford Bridge, and believe that the youngster is valued at £70 million by Leicester.
New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is expected to blood young players into his side this season, with the likes of Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori all looking to establish themselves in the first team.
The Europa League holders do already have Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmeiri as options at left-back, but Chilwell is arguably better than both defensively.
Ben Chilwell is solid defensively but could do with developing his crossing game. The pacey full-back does get forward often. Manchester City were looking at him this summer but opted to stick with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Benjamin Mendy.
