We’re almost half way through the January transfer window and still we await what you would call a big money move. One name which has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks is Inetrnazionale’s Wesley Sneijder.
The Dutch playmaker was, earlier this week, close to completing a move to Turkish outfit Galatasaray. However, it has now become clear that the player himself would prefer a move to England, and one club who are reportedly keen to offer him a route to the Premier League is Liverpool.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to add some much needed quality to his attacking options during this transfer window and Sneijder, who only 18 months ago was touted as one of the best players on the planet, certainly fits the bill.
The 28-year old is keen to leave the San Siro after falling out with Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni.
Galatasaray have already had a bid of just £8.2 million accepeted, a fee which Liverpool are well prepared to pay. However, Sneijder’s hefty wage demands may be a slight issue for the Anfield club as they would have to make the former Real Madrid man their highest paid player if they are to secure his services.
One thing is for sure, Sneijder is far too talented to be playing in Turkey. I for one would love to see him ply his trade in the Premier League and I have no doubt he would prove a huge success at Liverpool, if they are to sign him.
