It has been reported this evening that Manchester City are in talks with Real Madrid with regards the potential signings of Fernando Gago and Gonzalo Higuain.
Roberto Mancini is desperate to add to his squad this summer in a bid to turn his Manchester City side into Premier League title contenders next season.
Gago was strongly linked with a move to Eastlands back in January but for whatever reasons, the move never happened. The 24-year old midfielder is understood to be interested in a move away from the Bernabeu after falling down the pecking order with the Spanish giants in recent months.
Mancini is believed to be a big fan of the Argentine and the former Inter boss is keen to renew his interest in the player in the coming weeks.
Another Real Madrid player who Mancini wants to bring to Manchester City is the man pictured, Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine striker, who will be playing at this summer’s World Cup in South Africa, has become one of the most sought after strikers in world football.
Since joining Real back in 2007, the 22-year old has scored an impressive 64 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos. It is thought that City would have to offer Real at least £50 million if they want to bring both Higuain and Gago to the club. I suppose it all depends whether or not Jose Mourinho wants Higuain and Gago as part of his squad when he takes the reins at the club.
It would be amazing to see these two world class players playing Premier League football next season. There is no doubt that City would be far better off with these two in their side but whether or not Higuain and Gago fancy playing Europa League football is the big question.
