Emile Heksey scored 5 goals in 42 appearances for Aston Villa this season.
Bobby Zamora scored 19 goals in 47 appearances for Fulham this season.
Fabio Capello today announced his 30-man England squad and I must admit that I was surprised with a few of the names included in the squad.
The one thing I can’t get my head around is why Capello has decided to pick Heskey ahead of Zamora. In my opinion, Zamora has been one of the players of the season and I was quite shocked when I read that the Fulham striker didn’t make the squad.
I personally believe Zamora is a far better player than Heskey and I am sure a lot of you would agree with me. Heskey doesn’t score goals. It’s a simple as that. There is no doubt that he is a player other strikers like playing with but I reckon England need a number of strikers scoring goals if they are to win the World Cup this summer.
I doubt very much if betting tips have changed with regards to England winning the World Cup as a result of the announcement of the 30-man squad today (which will be cut to 23 later this month).
