It’s as simple as that.
Alberto Aquilani hasn’t done much during his time at Anfield and with his agent today claiming that the former Roma man may be on his way back to Italy already, I reckon Liverpool should sell him and buy the man on the left.
Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland has barely played since Roberto Mancini arrived at Eastlands and the former Republic of Ireland international has today admitted that there is a question mark over his future at the club.
Mancini clearly doesn’t rate Ireland too highly and there is no doubt that a move away from the world’s richest club may well be on the cards. Ireland, 23, is considered by many, including myself, as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and why he hasn’t been given more of a chance this season is beyond me.
Yes, Ireland has some injury problems but he hasn’t been injured for the whole time since Mancini arrived back in December. He is far too good to be sitting on the bench every weekend and although I am a City fan, I personally believe a move would do his career the world of good.
Liverpool would probably receive somewhere around the £12 million mark if they were to sell Aquilani and that would probably be enough to tempt City into selling Ireland. Like when they sold Richard Dunne to Aston Villa last summer, I think City would regret selling Ireland but at this stage, it is almost inevitable they will let him go.
